Profile - Andrea Jones Welcome our new saxophone and piano teacher Andrea to the Blowout sax team :) Andrea is a passionate and experienced musician from Dublin with several years of experience playing across a wide range of styles in Dublin and Ireland’s music scene. She is a saxophone and piano player, adept at writing and arranging music, receiving an ‘honourable mention’ and an award of bespoke mentorship from Improvised Music Company's BAN BAM composition award and an ‘Agility Award’ from Arts Council Ireland in 2023, and graduated from DCU’s Bachelor of Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance with tenor saxophone as main instrument receiving first class honours. Andrea plays a vast range of music styles - from jazz and classical to electronic, math rock, soul and hip-hop, and performs in many reputable venues and festivals. She also has a passion for composing and producing music and will be commencing a master’s in Sound Production in Bath Spa University this year. Andrea enjoys teaching students of all ages and abilities as well as supporting them with preparation for exams and live performances. She approaches each student differently to tailor their needs and teaches various genres of music along with harmony, theory, arranging, composition and improvisation.
